Staylittle or in Welsh Penffordd-las, is a small village set in the shallow upland basin of the Afon Clywedog on the B4518 road, and is equal distance from Llanidloes and Llanbrynmair.
We are less than a 10 minute drive to the Clywedog Reservoir where your find the exceptional Llyn Clywedog Trout Fishery, and the Clywedog Sailing Club, who are happy to accept day membership, not just to sail but also allow a variety of paddle sports.
There are many opportunities to walk and cycle in the area. The National Cycle Route NCR 8, Lon Las Cymru and the long-distance footpath Glyndwrs Way pass the bunkhouse.
You can walk to the source of the Severn or if you fancy a little bit of a challenge you can walk to one of the Cambrian Mountains; Plynlimon the highest point in Mid Wales. The Hafren Forest is accessible from our front door and is a beautiful place to walk anytime of the year.
Mountain and Gravel Biking is becoming extremely popular in the area and we are ideally placed to visit the dedicated mountain bike trail centre at Coed Y Brenin.
We are also popular for those who like to trail ride the green lanes, many TRF groups stay with us due to our ideal location.
The area is truly a place of natural beauty, and there is plenty to see, take a walk around the Clywedog and you may be lucky to see the Osprey fishing, take a drive to the Bryntail Lead Mines and stop off at the Clywedog Dam. A short drive from the bunkhouse is the Glaslyn Nature Reserve, or the Ffrwd Fawr Waterfall.
Our local beaches are about a 40-minute drive and they are not to be missed, clean sandy beaches with dedicated dog friendly areas.
Our local town is Llanidloes the first town on the River Severn, a town that offers an array of cafes, gift shops and pubs.
