Llyn Clywedog Trout Fishery - the premier fly fishing water in Wales, is run by the local Club Llanidloes and District AA.  They have 28 4hp petrol motor boats for hire or you can fish from the bank.  They offer 3 day packages, competitions, and guided days are available on request.

If you like to discover the countryside on two wheels

Challenge Rides in Wales - Sustrans 8, Lon Las, Trans Cambrian.  If you fancy give these rides a bash then we are on route and offer, good food, comfy beds and hot showers, and a safe place to store your bike.

Motorcycling Trail Riding  - is extremely popular in this area.  You can of course sort your own route and adventure across the network of old roads which never received a tarmac service, or we can put you in contact with an excellent well established local business who can guide you over the remote and unspoiled hills and valleys with a variety of surfaces and features.  They also offer bike hire, but you will need a motorcycle licence as they ride on roads during the experience.

Mountain Biking - there are a number of areas to discover and enjoy, Machynlleth, Corris, Coed y Brenin and Nant yr Arian.  There is also a number of local trails which can be accessed from our doorstep.

Hiking - If you like to walk then we are certainly the place for you. You can walk in the local area of the forest by using the forest roads enjoying the spectacular views and the amazing trees that grow in the area, not to mention the different fungi you will find.  We are perfectly placed to drive to the Hafren Forest car park, where there are a number of walks to take part in.

  • Source of the Severn Trail - 7 miles with spur to Pen Pumlumon Arwystli  (741m) - 3 miles extra so a total of 10 miles.
  • Blaen Hafren Falls Trail - 3 miles.
  • Severn Breaks its Neck - 1.5 miles.

There is a wonderful picnic area where you can admire the amazing views.  By arrangement we can meet you with a hamper of goodies for when you arrive back at the picnic area to enjoy at your leisure.  For the more adventurous there is also the source of the River Wye, which is harder to find as the source isn't waymarked.
